Critical analysis, technical notes, and creative thoughts from the Digital Practices workshop.
Semester 2
Week 22: Troubleshooting
Created: March 26, 2026
We had to systematically troubleshoot technical or design issues within our interactive platform, while ensuring that our research question, collected datasets, and module literature are embedded within the final portfolio.
Week 19-21: Practice and Project Demonstration
Created: March 19, 2026 | I had to urgently travel home to Kuwait as it is required for my residence visa there. On the day I landed in Kuwait, the airport was attacked by Iran as a consequence to the rising geopolitical tensions. Hence, my return was delayed by 3 weeks and I missed the workshops. However, I was in constant contact my my group members and diligently carried out my duty as their project leader.
We develop our practice by viewing our research through two distinct creative lenses: Practice That Represents and Practice That Responds. Then we present the current iteration of the project to a peer Feedback Team, actively seeking constructive critique on both the technical execution and the theoretical alignment of the work.
Week 18: Sensory Mapping
Created: February 26, 2026
We were introduced to sensory ethnography, which is the idea of researching the world through how we physically inhabit and perceive it, rather than just what we can see or count.
Week 17: Digital Methods and Data
Created: February 19, 2026 | Unfortunately I missed this workshop as I caught a severe case of strep throat.
We should focus on developing a clear research question and consider the kinds of data we need to answer those questions.
Week 15-16: Defining Your Topic
Created: February 12, 2026
We brainstormed topics and ideas that we would like to explore for our digital artefact. We tried to make a connection between those topics and the project brief we had chosen. We also formulated an action plan and a reading list to further define our topic.
Week 14: STARTING THE GROUP PROJECT
Created: January 5, 2026
Yay! Today we met our randomly assigned group mates :)

Week 8: Digital Ecologies in practice
Created: November 21, 2025
Perform a practice-based investigation into the human-food ecologies of Leeds' historic Kirkgate Market by adopting a "digital ecologies" approach.
Week 7: Identity and Generative AI
Created: November 14, 2025
The primary objective of this workshop is to explore the co-construction of personal identity within a Generative AI environment.
Week 6: Identity, algorithmic identity and data
Created: November 7, 2025
Demystify the social media "black box" by tracing the lifecycle of our personal data through three critical stages: our initial input, the algorithmic output of our digital profiles, and using the Sumpter's matrix to process like an algorithm.
Week 5: Data Visualisation
Created: October 31, 2025
Presented the collected data from Workshop 4 in a visually understandable format using Microsoft Excel.
Week 4: Data and data analysis
Created: October 24, 2025
As a team, we developed a strategic approach to data collection for a class scenario, utilizing Microsoft Forms. This included carefully determining the target data and implementing methods to ensure the process was non-intrusive to participants.
Week 3: Web scraping
Created: October 17, 2025
Learnt how to scrape data from websites using WebScraper.io tool while observing the moral and ethical implications of data collection.
